ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University introduced an updated Thunder the Wolf mascot costume during New Student Convocation on Friday, Aug. 22, and across Northern's social media channels. The week of Aug. 25, Thunder made appearances across campus welcoming new employees and students, along with touring Aberdeen Public Schools. Thunder will be making more appearances throughout the community this fall, including at upcoming football games at Northern and other community events.

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C?Dr. Eman Momeni, assistant professor of accounting at Northern State University, was recently invited to present at the 2025 Fraud and Forensic Accounting Conference, hosted by the Louisiana State University Department of Accounting.

Momeni presented his research, ¡°Corporate Reporting Fraud and Descriptive Decision Theories,¡± which explores the behavioral, psychological, and cultural factors behind fraudulent financial reporting. ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University student Maggie Kruger was recently featured in the July/August edition of South Dakota Magazine for her involvement in NSU¡¯s film program and athletics.

Kruger, who is pursuing her studies at Northern, has already made her mark as a filmmaker. Last November, she directed, shot, edited and acted in her short film Faileas. His article, ¡°The impact of an emerging market¡¯s microstructure legislations on market efficiency: evidence from Iran,¡± looks at how new trading rules on the Tehran Stock Exchange influenced both pricing efficiency and investor behavior. ABERDEEN, S.D. ¡ª Northern State University's Millicent Atkins School of Education will celebrate the completion of major renovations to the historic H.P. Gerber Building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house Friday, Sept. 19. 

The celebration will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 4 to 4:15 p.m., followed by an open house from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Both events will take place at the H.P. Gerber Building on the Northern State University campus.

The article, titled Three Interest Rate Theories, will appear in an upcoming volume of the peer-reviewed journal.

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C?Northern State University student Patrick Olson has been selected to serve on the National Farmers Union Youth Advisory Council, a prestigious opportunity that took shape following his participation in the recent D.C. Leadership Summit.

Olson, an Aberdeen native majoring in accounting with a pre-law focus, was introduced to the South Dakota Farmers Union while attending the state fair.
